Generally:
Today we have to live with disruptions in our power grids. These can be up to 10% based on the total operating time. Voltage fluctuations and dips occur, and in rarer cases there are also total failures, for example due to lightning strikes or errors during maintenance work. An appropriate UPS system offers protection against such disruptions.
According to EN 61131-2/Part 2 (limit values for the nominal direct voltage at DC 24V), the operating voltage for electronic controls is currently DC 24V (DC 20.4V – DC 28.8V eff.). Power supplies must be designed accordingly.
In conjunction with our DC power supplies, we offer DC UPS modules. These can easily be connected in secondary parallel and thus ensure the safe protection of your controls while being easy to use.
The patented technology of our DC UPS modules makes the use of switching regulators such as step-up converters unnecessary. EMC problems therefore do not occur.
All Riedel DC UPS modules are compact with a battery in the housing and easy to install. The DC UPS modules can be snapped onto a DIN rail according to DIN EN 60715. The module is available in versions DC 24V 3A 30sec, DC 24V 10A 30sec, DC 24V 20A 30sec and DC 24V 40A 30sec. Other versions are available upon request.
To use it, the module is connected in parallel to the DC output of a 24V DC power supply (see block diagram) and the “OFF” terminal is connected to the minus terminal. The “OFF” connection must be opened when the system is switched off via the normally open auxiliary contact of the main switch in order to deactivate the UPS module!

Switching off the buffer time limit, thereby allowing longer UPS times
DC UPS
RIPCUSV 10D
DC UPS module for supplying industrial PCs (IPC)
IPC UPS module with 10A
Input operating voltage threshold DC 20.6V
Output DC 24V
USB interface for communication between the UPS and the IPC
Generally:
As an addition to our RDCUSV series, we offer the RIPCUSV 10D. These RIPCUSV modules are equipped with a USB interface. In conjunction with an industrial PC (IPC) powered by 24V DC with the Microsoft Windows NT/2000/XP/Vista/W7 operating system, a computer-controlled, uninterruptible power supply can be set up. The UPS communicates with the IPC via the interface. After the UPS time has elapsed, the IPC receives a signal based on which it completes the system shutdown. As soon as the computer has shut down, it reports this to the UPS, which then switches off the supply voltage to the computer. Comprehensive software is included with the device.
The patented technology of our DC UPS modules makes the use of switching regulators such as step-up converters unnecessary. EMC problems therefore do not occur.
All Riedel IPC UPS modules have a compact design with a battery in the housing and are easy to install. The IPC UPS modules can be snapped onto a mounting rail. To use them, they are connected to the DC output of a 24V DC power supply (see block diagram) and the “OFF” terminal is connected to the minus terminal.
The module’s electronics monitors the output voltage and switches on the battery if it falls below the preset threshold. The internal battery serves as a supply source for the consumer over a defined period of time with a maximum current of 10A, which is internally limited. The output voltage is adjusted to the threshold value. For visual control, LEDs are attached that signal readiness (green), UPS operation (yellow) and battery low voltage (red).
Function:
- Output voltage stabilized in the event of a power failure (DC 20.6V)
- Boot time bridging adjustable (2-5 min)
- Adjustable UPS time (1s to 60min), then signal to IPC via USB interface or RS232
- Switching off the UPS via signal from the computer; automatic switch-off after an adjustable waiting time (30s to 10min)
- Short circuit proof
- Automatic switch-off at:
• Battery undervoltage (DC 17V) - Load automatically
•IU characteristic curve - Daily test of the batteries (automatically) and notification if defective.
- Software offers the option to automatically execute scripts
- Extensive logging function of the software
